8 WAYS HCF IS LOOKING OUT FOR YOUR FAMILY
Whatever the shape or size of your family, HCF has you covered for all stages of your life. Here are 8 ways we give you Uncommon Care.
Whether your home is made up of you and a new bub, you and your kids, or a whole clan, we have programs and services to help you look after the health and wellbeing of the whole family.
100% back on dental check-ups and popular extras
Our dental care program has you and your family covered for life’s important milestones. From your child’s first dental visit, straightening your teens’ smile, through to veneers and care for their teeth in later years. That’s why HCF members can get 100% back* on 1 or 2 dental check-ups a year as well as a first visit to a physio, chiro or osteo with over 16,000 extras providers in our No-Gap network.
Helping your kids with their big feelings
Mental health matters to HCF and recently, our children have needed extra support to navigate change and uncertainty. HCF members with hospital or extras cover have access to Calm Kid Central^, an online educational and support program helping kids aged 4-11 manage their big feelings and emotional challenges. The program provides confidential access to an experienced child psychologist who can answer your questions within 48 hours, as well as tools and resources to help you support your child.
Building Healthy Families for Life
In partnership with Ethos Health, our Healthy Families for Life support+ is designed to encourage kids to develop positive nutritional habits for growth and development, reduce the risk of chronic conditions in their future and help parents role model healthy eating behaviours.
Great value for families
Raising children can put a dent in your wallet. That’s we try to find ways to keep money in your pocket.
- No excess for kids. Believe it or not, you pay $0 excess for kids aged under 25 on your family cover no matter how many times they go to hospital (excludes Accident Only Basic cover).
- Kids go free. You don’t pay more for your kids (whether you have 1 or many) when you add them to your family cover.
Navigating Parenthood podcast
Becoming a parent can be the greatest and hardest thing you’ll experience, and across 4 seasons of our Navigating Parenthood podcast, we meet the parents and experts who prove it. In our fourth and most recent season, dad and host Dylan Lewis talks to parents about raising mentally strong kids, navigating the online universe and tackling identity and belonging with your tweens.
Support through the pregnancy journey
Depending on your cover, you may be able to claim on a range of programs and services# for support through pregnancy and after birth, including childbirth education classes (face-to-face, as well as access to Birth Beat’s online courses), breastfeeding consultations, and antenatal and postnatal group physio. You might also be able to claim on pregnancy compression garments and breastfeeding support from the Australian Breastfeeding Association.
More choice for your family's care
At HCF, you have choice on how you want to manage the health of your family by deciding the specialist who treats you and where you’re treated. Follow the recommendation of your GP or specialist to find a doctor, or research our Dr Gap tool to find a participating provider. You can also compare hospitals within our network using our online tool.
Investing in a better future
As a not-for-profit health fund, we invest in initiatives to help members. We’ve invested in the future of healthcare through our HCF Research Foundation and the HCF Catalyst program, which drive research and innovation in the delivery of affordable and accessible health services for our members and all Australians.
